  • Interpretive Walk at the James T. Saban Fire Lookout

Join the Forest Service for an interpretive walk to the James T. Saban Fire Lookout. Interpreters will be stationed along the 0.4-mile trail to talk about fire management, plants and geology, the Civilian Conservation Corps, Wyoming archaeology, and James T. Saban and the Blackwater Fire of 1937.

Start the walk anytime between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Plan about one hour. Drinking water and a restroom will be available at the trailhead. The trail is short but moderately difficult due to grade and uneven footing, so we recommend good walking/hiking shoes or boots.

Bring your camera to capture the incredible views from the Lookout.

Call the Powder River Ranger District in Buffalo for more information 307.684.7806.
