River to River Relay Race, occurs across 3.5 miles of national forest system roads. An estimated 240 - 250 teams participate in the race, teams of eight runners compete on an 80-mile course between the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. The race begins at McGee Hill in the LaRue Pine Hills and ends at the Ohio River in Golconda, Illinois. The race course follows both county and national forest system roads and national forest visitors may encounter runners and others involved with the race at various points along the course. Learn about maintaining trails in wilderness areas with mules! Join the Forest Service working alongside pack animals hardening trail surfaces in Garden of the Gods Wilderness. Tools and safety gear will be provided. No experience necessary.

Kids ages 5 through 15 are invited to a Fishing Derby. Learn to fish and have fun with games and crafts. Children will sign up by age for fishing and casting contests. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in different fishing categories. Some bait will be provided. Must be accompanied by an adult. Lunch will be provided.
