In partnership with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), the Wayne National Forest will host the 14th annual Wheelin’ Sportsmen Fishing Event on Lake Vesuvius on Thursday, April 20th, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. With help from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Division of Wildlife, thousands of rainbow trout will be released on event day to help increase anglers’ success.
For those unfamiliar with southern Ohio, Lake Vesuvius can be found seven miles north of Ironton, off State Route 93, approximately one mile east on Lawrence County Road 29 (Paddle Creek Road). The boat ramp parking lot will be utilized for mobility impaired arrivals and parking at the dock is reserved for those individuals, allowing for easier loading and unloading of wheelchairs and scooters. For safety reasons, there will be no boat trailer access during the event.
This event is for Athens County Residents Only from 9 a.m. until noon.
No Tires exceeding 54 in. in height and/or 16 in. in width
All Tires must be free of water, dirt and mud
No Tires will be accepted from tire shops, dealers, or repair shops
Note: By state law individuals may not transport more than 10 tires per load without being a registered scrap tire transporter with the state of Ohio. If you are transporting more than 10 tires without a permit you may be subject to a traffic stop and investigation by law enforcement.
