Ball Fire Activity Causes East Side Hungry Horse Reservoir Road 38 Closure

Effective immediately the East Side Reservoir Road 38 is being closed from the end of the pavement in Martin City to Spotted Bear Ranger Station. Today’s fire activity of the Ball Fire, part of the Blackfoot Lake Complex, was such that it was determined that for public safety Road 38 and the east side of the reservoir will be closed until further notice. Structure protection work is being completed at the Spotted Bear Ranger Station and the three area resorts- Diamond R Guest Ranch, Spotted Bear Ranch, and the Wilderness Lodge. There is no immediate danger, but contingency planning is occurring for the orderly removal of guests, stock, and non-essential personnel if necessary.
