What’s Open What’s Closed on Hungry Horse and Spotted Bear Ranger Districts

Blackfoot Complex
- East Side Reservoir Road 38 is closed from the end of the pavement in
Martin City to Spotted Bear Ranger Station.
- West side of the HH Reservoir is closed to public use indefinitely, road

- The Spotted Bear Ranger District is under closure with the exception
of all of the Great Bear Wilderness is open. (Except the Dean Creek drainage
is closed) (see the closure maps for Hungry
Horse Reservoir and Bob
Marshall Wilderness Complex)
- The Spotted Bear River drainage is closed and the area south to Meadow
Creek Trailhead is closed.
Robert Complex
- The burned area between Big Creek and Glacier Rim remains closed to public
use, including the North Fork River
- Roads and National Forest on the west side of North Fork road remain
closed
- Camas road remains closed
- The North Fork road is open to Polebridge
- The North Fork River is open (as of 10am 8/31) from Polebridge to Big
Creek, mandatory take out at Big Creek
- The North Fork River is open from Glacier Rim downriver
- The Big Creek Campground will be open as of 8/31
- Glacier Institute Education Center may resume operations as of 8/31
- Firewood piles between Big Creek and Camas Road will be open under Hoot
Owl operations as of 9/2
Middle Fork and Rampage complexes
- The Middle Fork River is closed to public use from Bear Creek to West
Glacier River Access sites
- The Middle Fork River is open from West Glacier River Access site downriver
Hungry Horse and Spotted Bear Ranger Districts Generally
- East Side Reservoir Road 38 is closed from the end of the pavement in
Martin City to Spotted Bear Ranger Station.
- The Great Bear Wilderness and Middle Fork Flathead River drainage is
open, but only accessible from Highway 2 and from east side trailheads.
Access from the Spotted Bear side is closed.
- The National Forest between highway 2 and the Great Bear Wilderness is
open
