Q: Will the rainfall end the fires?

A: No. It's important to remember that it will take sustained rainfall to end the fires.

Q: Is hunting season canceled due to the fires?

A: No. Just abide by closures and restrictions currently in effect.

Q: Is Going-to-the-Sun Road open?

A: YES. The entire Going-to-the-Sun Road is open. There is a 'no stopping' restriction from the north side of Lake McDonald to Logan Pass.

Q: Is Highway 2 closed?

A: No.

Q: Will it be smoky for my visit to Glacier National Park?

A: The east side of Glacier National Park has been impacted by some smoke from several fires, but it depends on the way the winds blow. The Glacier National Park website has webcams for certain areas of the park. Please access them for current smoke conditions. The St. Mary cam show

Q: Are Stage II Fire Restrictions In Effect & What Does That Mean?

A: Stage II Fire Restrictions are in effect in the county and in National Forest and National Park lands. Everyone is encouraged to be mindful of any activity, piece of equipment, or vehicle that might omit sparks or ignite fires. Campfires, charcoal grills, smoking without a 3-foot cleared area, and operating motorized vehicles off designated roads and trails is prohibited. Officials indicate that they will fine and/or arrest individuals starting fires. See the following website for details.

Q: Should we remove our horses shoes due to the Stage II Restrictions?

A: Horses wearing borium horse shoes are in danger of throwing sparks that could start fires. They should be removed or owners should have the horses wear protective rubber "horse booties."
