A short term closure order is effective today on several trails in the areas of the Some Creek and Little Salmon fires on the Spotted Bear Ranger District.
Due to fire activity, the following closures are in effect on Thursday, August 14, 2003 (see attached map):
Trail # 35 from Upper Holland Lake over Gordon Pass to the junction with Trail # 125; west side of the South Fork Trail.
Trail # 291 from the junction of Trail #35 to Doctor Lake.
Trail #135 from the junction of Trail #35 to George Lake.
Trail #628 from the junction of Trail #35 over Kid Mountain where the trail becomes Trail #135 to Gordon Mountain where the trail becomes Trail #128 to the junction of Trail #125; west side of the South Fork Trail.
The previous closure August 4 is still effective in the northern section of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex area, South Fork Flathead River Drainage from Mid Creek (3 miles south of Meadow Creek Trailhead) south 35 miles to Brownstone Creek (just south of Big Prairie Work Center) is closed to public access. All trail and river use in this area is prohibited due to fire activity.
Trailheads including Pyramid Pass, Monture, North Fork Blackfoot, and Benchmark can still be used to access open areas. The rest of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex is open for use.
Trails and areas affected by the fires will be reopened as soon as fire activity subsides and trail crews can remove debris and ensure that traveling in the area is safe. Fire danger remains extreme.
