Custer Gallatin National Forest Welcomes Jon Gellings as Bozeman District Ranger

Photo Credit: USDA Forest Service photo.The Bozeman Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest is pleased to announce that Jon Gellings accepted the District Ranger position and will start on April 28th.
“We are excited to welcome Jon Gellings as the new Bozeman District Ranger,” said Deputy Forest Supervisor, Kathy Minor. “With his extensive experience in land management, we look forward to Jon coming onboard and leading the district. Karen Stockmann has been serving as Acting District Ranger, and we thank her for her work and leadership in this role.”
Having most recently served as the District Ranger and Monument Manager for Mount St. Helens on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Gellings began his career with the Forest Service on the Chugach National Forest as a seasonal Recreation/Avalanche Specialist. His experience includes working as a Supervisory Contracting Officer for construction and design projects in Forest Service Region 9, managing the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve for Alaska State Parks, and working on the Iditarod National Historic Trail for the Bureau of Land Management.
“I am thrilled to join the Custer Gallatin National Forest and am honored to be part of the team of dedicated employees working through both the opportunities and challenges presented by the ecosystem and community expansion in pursuit of the Forest Service’s multiple use mission,” said Gellings. “The Bozeman Ranger District is filled with the wonder of nature, with its vast mountain landscapes, Wilderness, natural resources, and variety of recreational activities. I look forward to working with the communities and partners focused on the future durability and resilience of the area so that we can ensure future generations have the privilege to do the same.”
