Fisher Peak Trail #27

This trail was created to access the old fire lookout located on Fisher Peak. The lookout has long since disappeared, however the beautiful views have not.

The trail begins by ascending a series of switchbacks. At the end o the first .25 miles, the fir and larch stands give way to cedar and hemlock trees and a much easier 15% grade trail. At the .5-mile mark, the trail crosses a 20-foot-wide creek. This is the only dependable water source on the trail and difficult to cross before mid-June. From here larch and lodgepole pine dominate the forest but do allow an occasional glimpse of Russell Ridge. At the 1.75 mile mark the trail crosses an unused road and traverses .5 mile of clear-cut before entering the forest again.

The trail ascends several switchbacks to a large scree area, 600-feet below Fisher Ridge. At the 6-mile mark, the trail leaves the alpine and fir trees and opens to a meadow at the saddle between Fisher Ridge and Fisher Peak (elevation 7,580 feet). A short .5-mile spur trail climbs to Fisher Peak for panoramic views in all directions. The remaining three miles of unmaintained and very difficult to follow trail winds steeply down Parker Creek and junctions with Trail #14.
