Savenac West Cottage

Current Conditions

The Savenac West Cottage will be completely closed from May 23- June 22, 2026 to complete the construction started in 2025 and to address damage from winter storms that occurred in December 2025.

The Savenac West Cottage is one several rentals located at the Historic Savenac Tree Nursery. This historic tree nursery was founded in 1907 as a Forest Service tree nursery. Nursery operations concluded in 1969.

Located on the compound are memorials, and interpretive trails with plenty of room to roam.

Beautiful Savenac Creek runs through the compound. In winter, groomed snowmobile trails are available in the area and opportunities abound for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

General Information

Savenac West Cottage has an electric range, microwave oven, assorted cooking utensils and service for 5 people, refrigerator, and sleeping facilities include 2 bedrooms. One room has a queen size bed, the other has two twin beds. The living room has a hide-a-bed that can be used for sleeping. Visitors need to bring bedding.

Lookout Pass ski hill is located 10 miles west on Interstate 90. The world class "Route of the Hiawatha" is located 7 miles to the west for pristine mountain biking. Numerous mountain streams, the St. Regis River, hiking trails and alpine lakes are available for recreational activities within just a few minutes of Savenac. Year round.

Arrival is no earlier than 2:00pm. Departure is no later than 11:00am.

No smoking in building.

Overnight Use:
$80 per night

Pets must be on leash in the main compound and not allowed in building.

Directions

The Savenac compound is located 90 miles west of Missoula, Montana on Interstate 90. Take Haugan exit #16. Compound is well signed and entrance is visible. Located North of Interstate 90 located adjacent to the 50,000 Silver Dollar Inn and Bar.
