Shadow Mountain and Willow Creek Reservoirs

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R § 261.50(a), the following act is prohibited within the Shadow Mountain Reservoir Hilltop boat launch site and the Willow Creek Reservoir boat launch sites of the Arapaho National Recreation Area, Sulphur Ranger District, Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, Grand County, State of Colorado, hereinafter referred to as the Restricted Area. This Order is necessary to protect local water bodies from further zebra and quagga mussel infestation and to protect non-infested lakes from mussel contamination. The Restricted Area is defined as the Shadow Mountain Reservoir Hilltop boat launch site and Willow Creek Reservoir boat launch sites (T.3 N., R.75 W, Section 6, and T.2 N., R 76 W, Sections 7 and 12, 6 th Principal Meridian) as depicted on the attached maps, hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A. The Restricted Area does not include the parking, toilet, or picnic facilities at the boat launch sites. 

PROHIBITED ACT: Entering or using the Restricted Area while in possession of a motorized or trailered watercraft. 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(b). 

EXEMPTIONS: (1) Persons with a Forest Service permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission. (2) Any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force engaged in the performance of an official duty. This Order supersedes, rescinds and replaces Order 10-08-2012-01, signed February 22, 2012. This Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until rescinded.
