Battle Park Trailhead

Battle Park Trailhead is popular with horse users.  A camping area with facilities is located across the road.  

This trailhead provides access to Battle Park Trail - #173 and nearby access to Cloud Peak Wilderness via Long Park Trail - #164 and Middle Paintrock Trail - #066. 

This trailhead also provides access to Lily Lake Cut-off Trail - #120 (Non-wilderness trail) which begins at Long Park Trail #164 and heads southeast to Lily Lake where it connects to Middle Paintrock Trail - #066, outside of the Cloud Peak Wilderness boundary.

General Information

The camping area has 15 campsites with access to corrals, highlines, hitching racks, water troughs and a mounting ramp.

Anyone entering the Cloud Peak Wilderness is required to complete and submit a registration form.

14 day stay limit, camping is only allowed across the road from the trailhead parking area, Pack It In, Pack It Out, Wilderness Regulations apply within Cloud Peak Wilderness.

  • Alert: Areas accessed from this trailhead fall within a special regulation area where visitors are required to pack out all human waste and dispose of it in an approved waste disposal facility.  For more information, look for the Cloud Peak Wilderness Special Order.

Directions

From Ten Sleep, WY, take Hwy 16 east for about 17.5 miles to Forest System Road (FSR) 27. Turn left at sign onto FSR 27, cross the bridge and go another 2 miles, then turn left onto FSR 24. Trailhead is at the end of FSR 24. Camping area is across from the trailhead parking area.
