Centennial Trailheads (Trail #89) - Central Hills

Explore the Centennial Trail

Seven trailheads provide access to the Centennial Trail in the central Black Hills: Brush Creek, Calumet, Dakota Point, Deer Creek, Rapid Creek and Fishing Access, Samelius, and Spring Creek.

This section of the trail spans about 29 miles and is open for hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, and mountain biking.

A Trail with History

The Centennial Trail stretches 111 miles from Bear Butte State Park to Wind Cave National Park. Built to celebrate South Dakota’s 100th anniversary (1889–1989), it showcases the state’s diverse landscapes. Numerous other trailheads connect to the Centennial Trail throughout the Black Hills National Forest.
