Centennial Trailheads (Trail #89) - Northern Hills

Explore the northern section of the Centennial Trail, a 37-mile route winding through the beautiful Black Hills. This portion of the trail is open to hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, and mountain biking, offering something for every outdoor enthusiast.

Trail Access Points

Five trailheads provide convenient access:

  • Alkali Creek Trailhead (BLM)
  • Elk Creek Trailhead
  • Dalton Lake Trailhead
  • South Boxelder Trailhead
  • Pilot Knob Trailhead

Trail Use

  • Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) 62 inches wide or less are permitted only between Dalton Lake Trailhead and Pilot Knob Trailhead.
