GMUG Releases Prospectus for Outfitting and Guide Services

New commercial opportunities at the Gunnison Ranger District

GUNNISON, Colo. (Nov. 21, 2025) — The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests’ Gunnison Ranger District is soliciting proposals from prospective outfitter and guide companies interested in providing commercial services to the public.

Opportunities to provide commercial services include guided walk/wade fishing and off-highway vehicle (OHV) services, including dirt bikes. This opportunity is available exclusively within GMUG’s Gunnison Ranger District and is limited to the approved commercial services outlined in the prospectus. 

Applicants are advised to read the prospectus and appendices carefully. All items listed under “Application Package Requirements,” must be complete and included in the submission. 

Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 30, 2026. The final decision on the issuance of special use permits is contingent on compliance with the required environmental analysis as determined by the National Environmental Policy Act.
