South Platte Ranger District

Occupancy and Use 

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands and roads in the South Platte Ranger District, Pike National Forest, described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A (the “Described Roads” and “Described Areas”). 

The purpose of this Order is to protect natural resources and public health and safety. 

PROHIBITIONS:

  1. Camping within the Described Areas unless in a developed campground or a designated dispersed campsite provided by the Forest Service that is posted with signs.  36 C.F.R. 261.58(e)
  2. Parking on the Described Roads or within the Described Areas unless in a developed campground or a designated parking site provided by the Forest Service that is posted with signs.   36 C.F.R. 261.58(g)

EXCEPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  1. Any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
  2. Person with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.

DESCRIBED ROADS AND AREAS:

The Described Roads and Areas are located in Clear Creek, Douglas, Jefferson, Park, and Teller Counties, Colorado. The Described Roads are shown on Exhibit A and listed on Exhibit B. The Described Areas are all NFS lands within ÂĽ mile of the centerline of the Described Roads, Highways and County Roads as shown on Exhibit A.

IMPLEMENTATION: 

This Order replaces PSICC-2017-11, dated May 10, 2017.

This Order will be in effect on July 20, 2022, at 12:01 am, and shall remain in effect until July 20, 2027, or until rescinded, whichever event occurs first.
