Archaeology in the Upper Arkansas River Valley
Turquoise Lake Nature Trail parking area, Turquoise Lake Loop Road/Colorado Road 9
Leadville, CO
Join Megan Caveney from the Forest Service to learn about prehistory and history in the Upper Arkansas River Valley and why its preservation is important. See examples of local artifacts to learn how archaeologists make inferences about the past using the cultural material that remains.
This event is located at the new Turquoise Lake Amphitheater location. We are in the process of planning and building seating at Turquoise Lake, so we ask that people bring camp chairs.
The site is located along a path by the existing Turquoise Lake Nature Trail parking area. For these programs, meet at the Turquoise Lake Nature Trail parking area on the left side of the road along the entrance to Molly Brown Campground, off the Turquoise Lake Loop Road/Colorado Road 9. Our Forest Service staff will escort you to the site.
