Portions of San Carlos ranger district temporarily closed for public health and safety

(Pueblo, CO, June 30, 2026) – The Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands has issued a temporary closure order for portions of the San Carlos Ranger District to protect public health and safety during firefighting operations for the Aspen Acres wildfire. The closure will be in effect through July 31, 2026, 11:59 p.m., or until rescinded. 

Under Forest Order Number 02-12-03-26-22, entry into the fire area, as well as use of roads and trails within the closure zone, is prohibited. The closure encompasses specific sections of the San Carlos Ranger District as detailed in the official order and map.
