Green Mountain Reservoir and Ruedi boat ramp closed for the season

The boat ramp at Green Mountain Reservoir is closed for the 2026 season for public safety due to low water.

Ruedi Ramp will close to motorized watercraft launching for public safety as of August 4 at 10 p.m. due to low water and ramp conditions.

The deep mud at the end of the ramp makes it no longer safe or effective to launch and recover trailered boats. The low water levels are due to one of the worst snowpack years on record.  

The boat launch gates will remain locked throughout the remainder of the 2026 season. There are no other authorized public locations to launch motorized watercraft on Ruedi Reservoir. The day-use area at the Heeney Marina remains open, and rental boats docked at the marina will continue to be available to the public. Hand-launching non-motorized vessels from shore continues to be allowed, but hand-launching motorized vessels, including motorized kayaks and rafts, is not allowed due to the risk of spreading aquatic nuisance species such as zebra mussels.
