Tree Planting in Fire Scars - Oct. 25

Coconino National Forest, along with partner Ecoculture, will  host a community volunteer planting event, where tree planting will begin on approximately 700 acres across various fire scars on the Flagstaff Ranger District. These fire scars include the Schultz Fire (2010), Pipe Fire (2000), Horseshoe Fire (1996), Hochderffer Fire (1996), and White Horse Fire (1951). These plantings will help reforest areas that may not naturally regenerate for hundreds of years, which will help reduce soil erosion and improve wildlife habitat, while also restoring some of the timber base that was lost in these fires. Please RSVP to Wade Gibson, listed in the Contact Information below.
