Firefighters responding to Turkey Fire west of Village of Oak Creek

(Flagstaff, AZ, Aug. 8, 2026) — Firefighters are responding to the Turkey Fire, a roughly 4-acre wildfire located 5 miles west of the Village of Oak Creek.

Resources assigned to the Turkey Fire include a hand crew, an engine and a helicopter.

The fire is exhibiting moderate behavior and burning in grass, brush and juniper.

Gaining access to the fire is difficult due to steep and inaccessible terrain.

Firefighters are responding with a full suppression response with the goal of confining the perimeter to as small a perimeter as possible, as quickly as possible, while providing for firefighter and public safety.

The Turkey Fire was first reported at noon today, and its cause is under investigation.
