Quemado Lake Recreation Area
Quemado Lake 130 acres in size with a maximum depth of 55 feet. It is located 16 miles south of Quemado, NM and offers individual and group campgrounds for tents, trailers, and RVs, fishing, boating, and trails for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding.
Harmful Algal Bloom Danger Advisory in effect! November 7, 2025 - New Mexico Environment Department issued a Harmful Algal Bloom Danger Advisory for Quemado Lake. According to NMED, the water in Quemado Lake is not safe for drinking, swimming, wading, allowing pets to swim or wade, jet or water skiing, paddling, boating, or eating fish. Juniper Campground is Quemado Ranger District's most popular campground. It offers full RV hookups, leveled tent sites, and easy lake access. Maximum RV size is 35'.
