Occupancy and Use Prohibitions
The following is prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands in the Lincoln National Forest:
- Camping for more than 14 days, whether or not consecutive, within any 45-day period.
- Possessing an alcoholic beverage.
- Parking or leaving a vehicle in violation of posted instructions.
- Being publicly nude.
- Depositing any body waste in caves except into receptacles provided for that purpose.

Forest Order
The purpose of this order is to provide for public health and safety.
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a), the following is prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands in the Lincoln National Forest, described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A (the “Described Area”):
- Camping for more than 14 days, whether or not consecutive, within any 45-day period. 36 C.F.R. § 261.58 (a).
- After 14 days, a user of the Described Area must move at least 30 air miles from the previous camping location.
- Property must not be left unattended for more than 48 hours.
- Users of NFS lands must not establish occupancy, take possession of, or otherwise use public lands for residential purposes.
- “Camping” is defined as – The temporary use of National Forest System lands for the purpose of overnight occupancy without a permanently-fixed structure. It does not include erecting structures using Forest resources such as trees, limbs, rocks, etc.
- If the area charges fees, fees must be paid within 30 minutes of entering the fee area.
- Possessing a beverage which is defined as an alcoholic beverage by state law, subject to Exemption 3, 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(bb).
- Parking or leaving a vehicle in violation of posted instructions. 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(g).
- Being publicly nude. 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(j).
- Depositing any body waste in caves except into receptacles provided for that purpose. 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(ee).
