Horse Riding and Camping
The Dixie National Forest has hundreds of miles of trails for horseback riding. The landscape of the forest is extremely varied in elevation, plant life, and geology. Ride in the rocky pinyon and juniper forests, through lush meadows full of wildflowers, through rugged lava fields, to high mountain lakes, or to the rim of mesa tops with scenic views of the lower red rock canyons below.
There are some campgrounds specifically designed and built for the equestrian camper. These campgrounds have pens, water, loading areas, and nearby trails for horseback riding. Please note that weed-free hay is required in all Dixie National Forest camping areas, developed and dispersed.
Most trails are shared with other recreational users, click on the links on the right to find out where weed-free hay can be obtained and to learn more about trail sharing and responsible riding.
