Big Creek/Smith Creek Trailhead

This remote trailhead is located just past the Big Creek Guard Station and is a major access point for the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. 

There is also access to Big Creek for recreational boating- click here for more information on float permits.

This is a trailhead into the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, no motorized or mechanized use allowed.

Directions

From Yellow Pine, Idaho, travel on the Stibnite Road for approximately 4.5 miles. Turn onto Profile Gap Road and travel another 18 miles, up and over Profile Gap (7,592 ft), and through the town of Edwardsburg. Turn onto Forest Service Road #371 towards Big Creek Guard Station and drive another 2.5 miles to the trailhead.
