General Information

Arctic Point Lookout was built in 1936 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Learn more about the history of the lookout here and watch a video documenting the restoration of the property here.

This trail is in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. Motorized equipment and equipment used for mechanical transport are prohibited on federal lands designated as wilderness. This includes the use of motor vehicles (including OHVs), bicycles, and motorized equipment, such as chainsaws. In addition, each visitor is responsible for protecting the Wilderness by practicing minimum impact camping techniques and Leave No Trace ethics.

Getting There

Directions

The best access is from the Chamberlain Guard Station airfield. Hike approximately five miles north on FS
Trail #001 until the Tumbledown trail junction with FS Trail #025. Hike on FS trail #025 for approximately 13 more miles, where the trail ends at the lookout. The hike trends through mostly lodgepole forest. An alternate route is the Queen Creek trail.
