Baumgartner Group Site 100

Baumgartner "Site 100" is a large group site just outside of the campground gates along the South Fork Boise River that can be reserved for $100 per  night on recreation.gov under Baumgarter Campground Site 100. It is a large camping area with 9 sites, semi-primitive camping areas with gravel/native material for the spurs and sites, picnic tables, fire rings, and utility tables at each site. There is a large, covered picnic area with grills, group fire ring, 2 vault toilets, and potable water to fill water bottles is available. An RV fill site for potable water is available just outside the campground across the South Fork Boise River bridge. 

Reservations

Make reservations by visiting the Recreation.gov website. Once there, search "Baumgartner Campground" and select "Site 100" for reservation availability and information.

General Information

Do not block roadways if you reserve this site--emergency and service vehicles still need access. 

UTVs, ATVs, and off-road motorcycles are allowed for ingress and egress only. Please park them on the site spurs. 

All regular campground rules apply. 

The nearest RV dump station is located in Mountain Home. 

Generally mid-May through October. 

$100.00 per night plus reservation fee. 

Dogs must be contained or kept on leash within the campground.

A paved parking lot ends at a concrete sidewalk that leads to the an office building with a stone and wood facade. A stand of trees flanks the building on the left and provides a backdrop for the trapezoidal sign extending from a stone base. The sign reads Fairfield Ranger District in brown text on a gold background on the top third and Sawtooth National Forest in gold text on a brown background on the bottom two-thirds. A flagpole appears in a grassy area between the sign and the building entrance.

Getting There

Directions

From the town of Featherville, continue head east for 10 miles on Forest Road 227. Turn right at the Baumgartner sign on Forest Road 487 for .2 miles. Campground is located on the West side of the road.

 

 

Parking

Parking is limited campsite parking spurs only with a small parking area near the restroom for additional vehicles. Please do not block the campground loop road or entrance for safety and Forest Service worker accessibility purposes. Also, please do not park OHVs beyond barrier rocks to protect the vegetation within the campground.

OHV Trail Riding Info

There are many miles of single track and OHV less than 50" trails in the area. The Fairfield Ranger District Motor Vehicle Use Map highlights the many opportunities in the area.

OHVs are allowed to be ridden in Site 100 for ingress and egress only. 

Swimming Info

Day use swimming hole located at the far east end of Baumgartner Campground and can also be accessed via day use parking 1 mile east on Forest Road #227.
