Causey Reservoir Projects - Area Closures in Effect
Several projects are planned for the Causey Reservoir area in the Ogden Ranger District that will improve the recreation experience for visitors. As a result, there will be temporary area closures. Temporary Area, Road and Recreation Site Closures
PROHIBITIONS
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System Area, Road and Recreation site in the Ogden Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forests. Described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A. This Order will be in effect May 13, 2026, and shall remain in effect until August 9, 2026, unless rescinded.
1. Being in/upon the Area, Causey Dam Overlook Road (Forest Service Road #20016) and Causey Reservoir Observation Site, this includes all motorized vehicles, pedestrians, hikers, equestrians, and bicycles, as described below and as shown on attached map. [36 CFR 261.53(e)]
EXEMPTIONS
1. Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
2. Persons with Forest Service Permit specifically exempting them from this Order or a written determination by a Forest Service authorized officer that a permit is not required under 36 C.F.R. § 251.50(e)(1) or (2).
3. Any federal, state, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting resource in the performance of an official duty.
4. Federal or state administrative personnel in performance of an official duty.
DESCRIBED
The area closure is from milepost 0.23 to milepost 0.36 on the Causey Dam Overlook Road (Forest Service Road #20016) extending approximately 250 feet on the south side of the road to the shoreline on the north side of the road located in Township 7 North, Range 3 East, Section 34 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian, as shown on the attached map.
The end of the Causey Dam Overlook Road (Forest Service Road # 20016) is closed, from the junction with Skull Crack Road (Forest Service Road #20019) north to the overlook approximately .07 miles located Township 7 North, Range 3 East, Section 34 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian, as shown on the attached map.
Causey Reservoir Observation Site is closed located in Township 7 North, Range 3 East, Section 34 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian, as shown on the attached map.
PURPOSE
Purpose of the closure is for public health and safety while crews and equipment are improving roads, improving and installing parking lots and an emergency boat ramp.
IMPLEMENTATION
1. This Order will be in effect when signed May13, 2026, and shall remain in effect until August 9, 2026, unless rescinded.

3. Unless otherwise expressly defined in this Order, the terms used in this Order are defined by the regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture, 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299. If there are terms in this Order that are not expressly defined in the Order or 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299, their meaning shall be determined by their plain language definitions.
4. A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.

6. This Order supersedes any previous Orders prohibiting the same or similar acts in/on the Area, Causey Dam Overlook Road (Forest Service Road # 20016) and Causey Reservoir Overlook Site.
