ESCCRP FOREST TRAIL PROJECT AREA CLOSURE
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety while contractors perform forest health and fuels reduction work for the Forest Trail, the following acts are prohibited within the Inyo National Forest. This Order is effective from May 19, 2025, through June 6, 2025.
- Entering or being in the Forest Trail Area Closure: The boundary of the Forest Trail Area Closure begins on the North side of Forest Trail 275ft East of the intersection of Forest Trail and Sierra Blvd (latitude 37.65143, longitude -118.97316). The closure continues west along the north side of Forest Trail to 150ft West of the Intersection of Knob Hill Ln and Forest Trail, closure continues to the North 250 ft, then traces the marked private property line where USFS property meets private property northwest to (latitude 37.65375, longitude -118.98095), closure boundary continues north to (latitude 37.65483, longitude -118.98101), then northeast to intersect Forest System Road 3S34 at (latitude 37.65608, longitude -118.97865). This northern boundary of the closure follows this Forest System Road to (latitude 37.65760, longitude -118.97395) then west to the intersection of Forest System Roads 3S48A and 3S35G. The closure boundary continues south along Forest System Road 3S35G to (latitude 37.65534, longitude -118.97009) then south west to the northern point of Forest System Road 3S35K. Closure Boundary traces Forest System Road 3S35K southeast to the intersection with Forest System Road 3S35J (latitude 37.65360, longitude -118.97116). Closure boundary returns to the original location (latitude 37.65143, longitude -118.97316), as shown on Exhibit A. 36 C.F.R. § 261.53(e).
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Persons with an approved Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions contained in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.
A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.
