USDA Forest Service to Hold Wildland Firefighter Recruitment Events
Events Will Focus on Recruitment of Permanent and Temporary Positions

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif., Jan. 7, 2026 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service will host a series of wildland firefighter recruitment events in January 2026. Candidates interested in permanent and/or temporary wildland firefighter positions on national forests across California including the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada are invited to attend these informational events to learn about opportunities, connect with current Forest Service firefighting staff, and get assistance with the hiring process.
Events will be held in the following locations:
- Jan. 16, 2026 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Jan. 17, 2026 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.):
- Truckee Meadows Community College: William N. Pennington Health Science Center, 18600 Wedge Parkway, Bldg. B, Reno, NV 89511
- Pasadena City College: 1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91105
Jan. 23, 2026 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Jan. 24, 2026 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.):
