Lower Beasore California Climate Initiative project update

February 27, 2026

The Sierra National Forest’s Fire, Fuels, and Prevention crews successfully completed 20 acres on the Lower Beasore California Climate Initiative project, adjacent to private property. With a little sunlight and low relative humidity, ignitions for the project were quick and easy.

Daily patrols are ongoing and will continue to be coordinated through the last weekend in February.
Crews are actively chunking and pulling back soot and ash from visible roadside piles. There’s still a lot to be done, but the work completed in this area — combined with private fuels treatments — will promote a more fire resilient landscape and help with wildfire response.
