Pioneer Trail Group Campground

Pioneer Trail Group Campground sits in the Pinecrest Basin, about 1.5 miles on Dodge Ridge Road from the Pinecrest Lake Day Use Area and Summit Ranger Station. Pioneer Trail is a group campground with three campsites. Two campsites have 50-person capacities; the third can accommodate up to 100. 

Each site has pedestal BBQ grills, fire rings, several tables (including a food prep table), and several water hydrants. Each site has a paved parking area with parking capacities of 10, 15 or 25 vehicles – depending on the size of the vehicle.

 A one-mile trail leads from the campground sites to the Pinecrest Lake Day Use Area.

General Information

Year Round. Summer - Group Site only Reservations Required.

Winter - First Come First Served Individual Camping allowed. 

Check in: 2:00 p.m.; Check-out: 12:00 p.m.; Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Overnight use:50% discount for single site camping with any of these passes: Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age, or Golden Access. Applies to fee for site occupied by the pass holder. 

Overnight Use:
Group Site: $133 per night (up to 50 people)
Group Site: $184 per night (up to 100 people)

Dodge Ridge Corporation operates this campground under a special-use permit administered by the Forest Service. The fees collected from overnight campers go back into upgrading campground facilities and amenities

Winter Camping:

During winter, Pioneer Trail Group Campground as a first-come, first-served winter camping location. Water is not available during the winter camping months. One vault toilet is available in winter. 

Winter camping is free for groups of 15 or less.

For groups of 16+, fee is $1/person per night (i.e., group of 16 would pay $16/night, then $1/person per night for each additional person). Payments can be made in the administration office just up Dodge Ridge Road at Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort.
