Andresen Mine Trail

A 4.9 mile hiking and equestrian trail between Holm Powerhouse and Lumsden Road (1N10) along Cherry Creek and Tuolumne Wild & Scenic River. Use Jawbone Ridge and Cherry Lake South topographic quad maps.

  • Potential hazards include loose and falling rocks, flash floods, and debris flows.
  • Trees may still be weakened from previous fire damage and ongoing drought and may fall at any time.
  • Stay on designated roads and trails and within opened areas.
  • Be alert for falling objects and do not linger around large trees.
  • Avoid the area during high winds or heavy rain.
Current Conditions
Groveland Ranger District (HWY 120) - Vehicle access may be difficult on the north end of the trail and via Lumsden Road (1N10) due to road closures. Vehicle access is available to the trailhead next to Holm Powerhouse (off Cherry Lake Road). No services available at either trailhead. PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT, PLEASE! General Information

California Campfire Permit is required to have fire in a dispersed campsite. Campfire permits can be obtained for free at any Forest Service office or online at https://www.readyforwildfire.org/permits/

No water faucets available at trailhead

Motorized or mechanized vehicles, including mountain bicycles, are not allowed on trails within the Tuolumne Wild & Scenic River boundary.

Getting There

Directions

  1. From the Groveland Ranger Station, travel 5 miles east on State Highway 120.
  2. Turn left onto Cherry Lake Road (1N07).
  3. Stay left at intersection with Mather Road (1S02) and continue to bottom of Tuolumne River canyon.
  4. After crossing the river, stay left and travel 1 mile.
  5. Turn left onto 1S23Y.
  6. Continue 1/2 mile and park in gravel parking area on left before crossing bridge. Please do not park in the area immediately to the left of the kiosk where whitewater boaters launch their rafts or kayaks.
  7. Start of trail is located immediately across bridge on left side of road.
