Beach Picnic Area
This site is located on the shores of Elk Lake and has stunning views of South Sister. During the summer months it is a popular location to enjoy a sandy beach, swim and picnic.
PLEASE NOTE: Beach is one of the few recreation sites on the Forest where DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED because of safety and sanitary issues. The two primary reasons that dogs are not allowed in the swimming area are sanitation and safety concerns related to the high numbers of people, including young children, who visit the lake. Sanitation is a concern because no outlet exists for the small lake and water quality becomes an issue, especially later in the season as the water warms.
People may be fined $100 for Bringing in or possessing in a swimming area an animal, other than a seeing eye dog. (36 CFR 261.16(k)).
