The Fremont-Winema National Forest will temporarily close parts of the Spring Creek area July 3-5 and Aug.7-21, 2026, to support a ceremonial request from the Klamath Tribes.

Forest Order
Pursuant to 16 USC § 551, 36 CFR § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on National Forest System lands, roads, and trails within the following described area on the Fremont-Winema National Forest, Chiloquin Ranger District, as described in the attached Exhibit A. This order is effective July 3, 2026 through July 5, 2026 AND August 7, 2026 through August 21, 2026, unless rescinded sooner.
PROHIBITIONS
- Going onto or being within an area closed for private tribal activities 36 CFR § 261.53 (g).
- Being upon a closed road. 36 CFR § 261.54 (e).
- Being on a closed trail. 36 CFR § 261.55 (a).
EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order) specifically exempting them from this Order.
- Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of any organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Owners or lessees of land in the affected area.
- Persons invited by The Klamath Tribes to participate in ceremonial activities.
This prohibition is in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.
CLOSURE AREA
This Order is effective within the following boundary, moving counter-clockwise: From the starting point in the Starting in the (1) NW corner of the closure, from the junction of the 9732 road south on the 360 road to the Forest Boundary (2). From there following the Forest boundary east to Highway 97, but does not include the drivable surface of Highway 97 (3). North to the junction of Highway 97 and the 400 road (4). West on the 400 road where it connects with the (5) 350 road, and closing back to (1) the 9732 and 350 junction.
This closure also closes all roads and trials within the closure boundary described above, with the exception of the drivable surface of Highway 97. The area of closure is also shown on the attached map in Exhibit A.
This prohibition is in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A. ORDER NO. 06-02-12-26-02 A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals or $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 USC § 551 and 18 USC § 3571, and 3581.
