Drift Creek Cove Camping Restrictions
Camping is prohibited on National Forest Lands in Drift Creek Cove on the south side of Swift Reservoir as described in the Forest Order and shown in the map (Exhibit A below).

DRIFT CREEK COVE CAMPING RESTRICTIONS
Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited in Drift Creek Cove on the Swift Reservoir within the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The order area is shown in Exhibit A. This Order is effective from April 1, 2024 to April 1, 2027.
PROHIBITIONS:
- Camping on National Forest Lands identified as Drift Creek Cove in Exhibit 36 CFR § 261.58(e)
PROHIBITION AREA:
Drift Creek Cove is located on the south side of Swift Reservoir, within Sections 4,5, and 8 of Township 6N, Range 6E, on National Forest System Lands. There are six dispersed shoreline campsites, four of which are located on the east bank and two on the west bank, managed and maintained through agreement by PacifiCorp. Campsites are boat-in access only.
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following are exempt from this order:
- Persons with a permit to camp in Drift Creek Cove issued by PacificCorp.
- Persons with Forest Service Permit FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order) specifically exempting them from this Order.
- Any Federal, State, or Local officer, or member of an organized search and rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.
Violations of this prohibition is punishable as a Class B Misdemeanor, by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 USC § 551; 18 USC § 3559 and 18USC § 3571).
