Road Repairs & Road Closures in 2026
There are several road closures and repair projects taking place on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest during the spring and summer of 2026. Here is the latest list of Road Closures and their repair schedules.
(Note: MP = Milepost, FR = Forest Road)
Forest Road 23:
- Road work will occur from Trout Lake, WA to the Williams Mine Trailhead throughout the summer, 30-minute delays may be expected.
Forest Road 25:
- Repair work will occur on Huffaker Bridge from 6/8 - 6/12 from MP 7.53 (junction with FSR 2508) to MP 7.76 (junction with FSR 26). Work will consist of paving and re-installing the guardrail.
- Detour: from Randle, WA take FSR 23 to FSR 28 to FSR 76 back onto FSR 25 near Iron Creek Campground.
Forest Road 2300521:
- Road work will occur throughout the summer, 30-minute delays may be expected.
Forest Road 41:
- Repairs will occur between Sunset Campground to Stairway Trailhead, starting on 6/1/2026 and will continue for several weeks. Up to 30-min delays can be expected.
Forest Road 63:
- Section of the road is washed out. Rocks and a boulder have fallen onto the road at the washout site. Repair schedule to be determined.
Forest Road 64:
- This road is closed for repairs due to a washout from the Junction of Road 6400203 (above Big Hollow Trailhead) to Road 5800/6400 intersection. The closure will likely occur from 5/14 - 7/2.
- Observation Peak Trailhead and Forest Road 58 will be closed from 6/1- 6/14 from the junction with Forest Road 58/64 to the junction of Forest Road 57/58 for repairs to the Chinook Trail Bridge.
Forest Road 85:
- Has experienced a washout. Repair schedule to be determined.
Forest Road 8020, Road 8031, Road 8225, and Road 8225150:
- Road work will occur throughout the summer, 30-minute delays may be expected.
Additional Road Closures:
- Forest Road 6808 Emergency Road Closure - Due to a sinkhole.
- Washout of Forest Road 93
These repairs include asphalt road repairs and patches, grading, culvert replacements, drainage maintenance, aggregate placement, and bridge guardrail replacement. These roads access several high use recreation sites along with supporting current and upcoming timber and bough sale needs.
