Due to precommercial thinning operations that are planned around Magone Bike trail paths, for the safety of the public these trails need to be closed to the public while falling activities take place.

Magone Trail Closure Continuation 2026
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), the following prohibitions are established within the Malheur National Forest, within the area described below and shown on Exhibit A. This order is effective April 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, unless rescinded sooner.
PROHIBITIONS:
- Being on National Forest System Trail. 36 CFR § 261.55(a).
AREA DESCRIPTION AFFECTED BY THIS ORDER
Malheur National Forest Blue Mountain Ranger District in the State of Oregon.
See attached map Exhibit A, displaying the places where this Order applies—the boundary of that area is as follows:
- Closed Trails: Porcupine Springs Trail #5089, Phlo Trail #5091, and Pumphouse Trail #5090.
- Closed Trailhead locations: 3618-064 road T 12 S R 32 NW ÂĽ Section 6
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
- Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this order.
- Any Federal, State, or local Officer or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Forest Service employees performing official duties.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
PURPOSE:
Due to precommercial thinning operations that are planned around Magone Bike trail paths, for the safety of the public these trails need to be closed to the public while falling activities take place.
Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. (16 U.S.C. § 551, and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581.)
