  • Hazardous Conditions likely across Forest

     Update December 15th, 2025

Hazard Alert: National Forest Roads &Trails

Heavy rain and flooding have left many forest roads and trails unsafe. Soils are saturated, rivers are rising, and risks remain for additional road failures, debris flows, and downed trees even though the main storm has passed.

Please avoid forest roads and trails until conditions stabilize. Hazards are especially severe in and near recently burned areas.

Forest Service crews are assessing damage where safe, but it will take time to understand the full extent. More rain and wind is expected this week, which may worsen conditions.

If you must travel on forest roads, expect downed trees, washouts, and debris flows. Be ready to turn around and find alternate routes. Be prepared for emergencies and ready to self-rescue. Don't count on rescue crews being able to reach you.

Stay informed through local county emergency management and National Weather Service pages.

    December 8th, 2025:

According to the National Weather Service, an atmospheric river will bring substantial rainfall to the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and surrounding areas this week. The heaviest rains are expected Wednesday, Dec. 10 through Thursday, Dec. 11.

This wet weather will increase the chances of flooding - this is especially concerning in burned areas.
