The Suiattle River Road (FSR 26) and other roads within the watershed were severely damaged from an atmospheric river flood event. The Suiattle River Road (at milepost 4) and associated spur roads are closed for public safety.

Suiattle River Road Washout Closure
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(b), to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Darrington Ranger District of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest as described below and shown in Exhibit A. This order will be effective from Signing Date until January 1, 2028, unless rescinded sooner.
PROHIBITION:
Being on the road. [36 CFR § 261.54(e)]
CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:
Forest System Road #26 (Suiattle River Road), beginning at the intersection of Suiattle Mountain Road within T33N, R10E, Sections 11, 12, 13 and extending to the Suiattle River Trailhead within T33N, R11E, Sections 18, 19, 30, 31, 32; T32N R11E, Sections 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15; and T32N, R12E, Sections 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24. Reference Exhibit A, which is your map.
The entirety of Forest System Road #2640 (Grade Creek Road) from the intersection with Forest System Road #26 (Suiattle River Road) and continuing north to its terminus at the Lake Tupso Trailhead within T33N, R10E, Sections 1 and T33N, R11E, Sections 6, 7, 8, 17, 18 (see Exhibit A).
The entirety of Forest System Road #2660 (Tenas Creek Road) from the intersection with Forest System Road #26 (Suiattle River Road) and continuing north to its terminus at the Boulder Lake Trailhead within T33N, R11E, Sections 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 29, 30 (see Exhibit A).
The entirety of Forest System Road #2680 (Green Mountain Road) from the intersection with Forest System Road #26 (Suiattle River Road) and continuing north to its terminus at the Green Mountain Trailhead within T32N, R12E, Sections 15, 16, 17 (see Exhibit A).
The entirety of Forest System Road #25 from the intersection with Forest System Road #26 (Suiattle River Road) and continuing southeast to its terminus within T 33N, R11E, Sections 31, 32, and T32N, R11E, Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, 17 (See Exhibit A).
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Persons with a Valid Forest Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order (Form FS-7700-48), specifically exempting them from this order.
This prohibition is in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
Violations of this prohibition are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3571, and 3581).
