Memaloose Lake Trail #515

This popular hiking trail enters the Clackamas Wilderness and travels through old-growth forest on the way to Memaloose Lake.

Memaloose Lake Trail begins at Forest Road 45 (3,440’) and ends at Memaloose Lake (4,080’). The trail climbs gradually for 0.8 mile to a series of switchbacks. Continue uphill another 0.4 mile to Memaloose Lake. Head left, cross the outlet, and you’ll find several primitive campsites. If you wish to climb South Fork Mountain, continue straight on this unmarked, unmaintained trail 1 mile to the summit.

Getting There

Directions

From Portland, OR - Travel east on Hwy 26 to Sandy. Turn right (southwest) on OR Hwy 211 and travel 6.1 miles to OR Hwy 224. Turn left (southeast) on OR Hwy 224 and travel 14.7 miles to Forest Road 45. Take the right fork onto Forest Road 45 and travel 12.1 miles to the parking area for the trailhead on the south side of the road.
