White River West Sno-Park
White River Sno-Park is a popular winter destination on the Forest, especially on weekends and after fresh snow! Due to the sno-park's stunning view of Mt. Hood and its proximity to Portland, this area is a family favorite.
Sno-park provides access to ungroomed backcountry ski trails.
Parking at White River often fills quickly, slowing traffic in the area. If the lot is full, do not stop to wait or park along the highway or along entryways - this is unsafe and illegal. Instead, have a backup plan and try a different sno-park. Parking has space for 200 vehicles. Trailer parking available.
Visitors asked to use caution when sledding on a low snowpack year. Be aware of exposed rocks and other obstacles. When choosing an area to sled, make sure you are well away from the river.
General Information
- Dumping sleds or trash is prohibited. Pack out everything you've packed in, including broken sleds or popped tubes.
- Do not park along highway. This is unsafe and illegal.
Oregon Sno-Park permit is required in designated sno-parks from November 1 through April 30. Permits are sold in DMV field offices and by permit sales agents at various locations like winter resorts, sporting goods stores and other retail outlets.
