Little Giant Fire Closure Order on the Wenatchee River and Entiat Ranger District

Little Giant Fire Closure Order: 06-17-07-2026-40

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Wenatchee River/Entiat/Chelan Ranger Districts of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This Order is effective September 3, 2026, and will remain in effect until Oct 31, 2026, unless rescinded sooner.

PROHIBITIONS:

1. Entering into or being upon National Forest System lands, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.53(e)].
2. Being on a National Forest System trail, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.55(a)].
3. Being on a National Forest System Road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.54(e)].
4. Use of vehicle off of National Forest System Roads as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.56].

CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:

Area closure only applies to USFS lands, roads and trails within.

Closure begins at the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest boundary just N of the Eagle Cr. Rd. in T. 25 N., R. 18 E., sec. 30. Closure then proceeds generally N following the National Forest boundary east of the Chumstick Hwy 209 then continues following the northside of Hwy 209 to the jct. with Hwy 207 in T. 27 N. R. 17 E., sec.27. Closure then follows the N side of Hwy. 207 generally NW to the jct. with the White River Rd. in T. 27 N., R. 16 E., sec. PB39. Closure then follows the NE side of White River Rd. to the jct. with Forest Service Road (FSR) 6400 in T. 28 N., R. 16 E., sec. 18. Closure then follows FSR 6400 (closing FSR 6400) NW to the end of the road and the jct. with Forest Service Trail (FST) 1507 (White River Trail) in T. 29 N., R. 15 E., sec. 35. Closure then follows FST 1507 N the jct. with FST 1562 in T.29 N., R15 E., sec 15.  Closure then follows FST 1562 NE and then NW to the jct. with the eastern border of sec. 22 in T. 30 N., R. 15 E. Closure then proceeds N on the eastern borders of sections 22, 15, and 10 until the jct. with the Chelan County line at High Pass in T. 30 N., R. 15 E., sec. 10. Closure then proceeds N and NE along the county line to the jct. with the Wenatchee River R.D./Chelan R.D. line to the jct with the Wenatchee River R.D. boundary at the summit Chiwawa Mtn. in T. 31 N., R. 16 E., sec. 30. Closure then proceeds along the W.R.R.D./Chelan Dist. Boundary to the jct. with the WRRD/Entiat R. D. District Boundary at the summit of 7 Finger Jack in T. 31 N., R.16 E., sec.35. Closure then proceeds along the W.R.R.D./Chelan Dist. Boundary to FST 1240.22 (Copper Basin Wilderness Trail) in T. 31 N., R. 16 E., sec. 25. Closure then continues N following the FST 1240.22 to FST 1240.21 in T. 31 N., R 17 E. sec.19.

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
2. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A. Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for a corporation, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. (16 USC § 551; 18 USC §§ 3551, 3571, and 3581.)
