Storm Damaged Roads Closure on Methow Valley District

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Methow Valley Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This Order supersedes Order # 06-17-04-26-09, dated April 21, 2026, signed by Forest Supervisor Tara Umphries. This Order is effective June 30, 2026, through December 1, 2026, unless rescinded sooner. 

PROHIBITIONS:
Using a motor vehicle on a National Forest System road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.54(a)].

CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:
The closure area includes Forest System Road (FSR) 4400100 from the junction with FSR 4400075 in Township 33 N, Range 20 E, Section 16 to the end of FSR 4400-100 in Township 33 N, Range 20 E, Section 5. The closure area also includes FSR 4415 from the junction with an unnamed spur road at mile marker 5.38 in Township 34 N, Range 20 E, Section 21 to the end of FSR 4415 in Township 34 N, Range 20 E, Section 17. The closure area then continues and includes includes FSR 4430 from the junction with FSR 4430100 in Township 33 N, Range 19 E, Section 12 to the to the junction with 4430200 in Township 34 N, Range 19 E, Section 34. The FSR 4430100 is closed from its start at FSR 4430 in Township 33 N, Range 19 E, Section 12 to its terminus in Township 33 N, Range 19 E, Section 13. The closure area also includes FSR 4435 from the junction with FSR 4435-015 in Township 34 N, Range 19 E, Section 33 to the end of FSR 4435 in Township 34 N, Range 19 E, Section 19.

The following roads are included in this closure order:

Roads Closed

• FSR 4400100 (Lime Creek) from the junction with FSR 4400075 to its terminus
• FSR 4415 (Little Bridge Creek) from the junction with an unnamed spur road at mile marker 5.38 to its terminus
• FSR 4430 (West Twisp River) from the junction with 4430100 (War Creek) to the junction with 4430200 (Williams Creek)
• FSR 4300100 (War Creek)
• FSR 4435 (Reynolds) from the junction with 4435015 (Reynolds Trailhead) to its terminus

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting
   force in the performance of an official duty.
2. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or
   Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an
individual or $10,000.00 for a corporation, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or
both. (16 USC § 551; 18 USC §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581.)
