Three Queens Fire Closure

Closure Order: 06-17-03-2026-36

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50 (a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Cle Elum Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This Order is effective August 24, 2026 and will remain in effect through October 31, 2026, unless rescinded sooner.

PROHIBITIONS:

1. Entering into or being upon National Forest System lands, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.53(e)].
2. Being on a National Forest System Trail, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.55(a)].
3. Being on a National Forest System Road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.54(e)].
4.  Use of vehicle off of National Forest System Roads as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.56].

CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:

Area closure only applies to USFS lands, roads, and trails within; the area, trail, and road closures are defined as follows:

The closure begins at the junction of the Pacific Crest Trail North #2000 in T. 22 N. R 11 E. Sec. 4 WM and Interstate 90. It then follows the north and east sides of Interstate 90 to where it intersects the forest boundary in T. 20 N. R. 13 E. Sec. 3. It then follows the forest boundary east along the north edge of Sections 3, 2, and 1. It then turns south along the eastern edge of sections 1 and 12. It then turns east and follows the north, then east edge of section 18 in T. 20 N. R 14 E.

It then follows the forest boundary north of the Yakima River in Sec 17, T. 20 N R. 14E. It then follows the forest boundary north along the west edge of sections 16 and 9 in T 20 N. R 14 E. It then turns east on the 
north edge of section 9 and follows the north edge of sections 9, 10 to where it intersects the Forest boundary in T. 20 N, R. 14 E., Sec 10. Then it follows the forest boundary to the west edge of SR 903 in T. 20 N. R 14 E. Sec. 2. It then follows the west edge of SR 903 north to its intersection with the southern edge of Section 5 in T. 21 N. R. 14 E. It follows Section 5 east across the north, then south, down the east edge of Section 9. It then goes east on the north edge of Section 15, then south on the east edge of Section 15 to the north edge of Section 23. I follows the north edge of Section 23 then turns south along the east edge of Section 23 to where it intesects with Section 25. It follows the north edge of Section 25 to the southwest corner of Section 19 in T. 21 R. 14 E. It then turns north on the west edge of Section 19 to its intersection with Trail 1353 in T. 21 N. R 14 E. Section 13. It follows Trail 1353 north to its intersection with Trail 1307 and then 1355 in T. 22 N R. 14 E, Section 13. 

From that intersection it follows the east edge of Section 13 in T. 21 N. R. 14 E north along Section 12 to where it intersects with Trail 1393.1, it then follows Trail 1393.1 east to Trail 1392, it follows Trail 1392 east to De Roux Trailhead in T. 22 N. R 15 E Section 10. It then follows Trail 1358 to the Esmeralda Basin Trailhead in T. 23 N, R 14 E. Section 35. It then follows Trail 1394 to Trail 1229 to where it intersects Trail 1215 in T. 23 N. R. 15 E Section 25. It then follows Trail 1215 north to its intersection with Trail 1559 in T. 24 N. R 15 E, Section 23. It then follows Trail 1559 to its intersection with Trail 1595.1 in T. 24 N. R14 E Section 23. It follows Trail 1595.1 west to its intersection with FSR 4330 in T 24 N. R 14 E Sec34.
The closure then follows FSR 4330 to its terminus at the Deception Pass Trail head in T 24 N, R 14 E, Sec 28. It then follows the Deception Pass trail 1376 to its intersection with the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 and forest boundary in T. 24 N. R 14 E Sec. 6. It then follows the forest boundary south to the beginning of the closure in T. 22 N. R 11. E Sec. 4.

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
2. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS‑7700‑48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for a corporation, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. (16 USC § 551; 18 USC §§ 3551, 3571, and 3581.)
