Deer Ridge #846

This trail begins in the Forest, enters the Park at 3.5 miles and ends in alpine meadows within Olympic National Park (pets not allowed in the National Park). Splendid views of snow-covered peaks in the Olympics are frequent at the higher elevations. 5.2 miles in length, grade is moderate to steep, 35% maximum.

The trail passes through Buckhorn Wilderness and enters Olympic National Park at 3.6 miles. Dispersed camping at Slab Camp Trailhead.

Alert: Treat all water taken from streams before drinking. Pack out what you pack in.

General Information

Wilderness regulations apply within Buckhorn Wilderness.

  • Motorized vehicles and mountain bikes are prohibited.
  • Pack and saddle stock not recommended due to the steep grades.
  • Pets prohibited in Olympic National Park.

Permits are required for all overnight trips into the Olympic National Park backcountry.
