Ashland Municipal Watershed Camping and Fire Prohibition

Fire and Occupancy and Use 

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited upon the Ashland Watershed Closure Area, located on the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District within the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest as described below and shown in Exhibit A. 

This Order will be effective beginning June 21, 2023 and will terminate on July 1, 2028 unless sooner rescinded.

PROHIBITIONS:

1. Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire. [36 CFR § 261.52 (a)]
2. Camping. [36 CFR § 261.58 (e)]

ASHLAND WATERSHED CLOSURE AREA:

The southeast ¼ of the northwest ¼, east ½ of the southwest ¼ and the southeast ¼ of section 17; all of Sections 19 and 20; the east ½ of the west ½ and the east ½ of Section 21; the southwest ¼ of the southwest ¼ of Section 25, all Sections 27 and 28 except for exclusions; all of Sections 29, 30, and 31; all of Section 32 except for exclusions; all of Sections 33 34, 35, all within Township 39 South, Range 1 East, Willamette Meridian surveyed, Jackson County Oregon.

The northwest ¼ of the northwest ¼ of Section 24; and all land within the watershed boundary (ridge top) of Section 36, all within Township 39 South, Range 1 West, Willamette Meridian surveyed, Jackson County, Oregon.

All of Sections 3,4,5,6,7,8,9, 10 and 16; and all land within the watershed boundary of Sections 2, 11, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21; all within Township 40 South, Range 1 East, Willamette Meridian surveyed, Jackson County, Oregon.

EXCLUSIONS:

This Order shall not apply to the following areas:

• Private land described as southeast ¼ of the southeast ¼ of Section 21: Township 39 South, Range 1 East, Willamette Meridian surveyed, Jackson County, Oregon.
• Private land described as the northwest ¼ of section 27: Township 39 South, Range 1 East, Willamette Meridian surveyed, Jackson County, Oregon.
• Private land described as west ½ of the northeast ¼, and the southeast ¼ of the northwest ¼, and the northwest ¼ of the southeast ¼ of Section 32; Township 39, South, Range 1 East, Willamette Meridian surveyed, Jackson County, Oregon.

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:

1. Persons with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of any organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

This prohibition is in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.

Violations of this prohibition is punishable as a Class B Misdemeanor, by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 USC § 55 1; 18 USC § 3559 and l 8lJSC §.
