River Bench Campground

River Bench Campground has 8 walk-in campsites, all with fire rings, and is perched along the lovely Illinois River. Both the River Bench Day Use Area and Campground are located on a lower river terrace, and require a hike down one of two access trails to use.

Effective July 2026, this site is fully cashless. Visitors need to pay using the Scan and Pay feature of recreation.gov.

General Information

Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

  • Quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Campfires in developed fire pits only
  • Fireworks are prohibited
  • Dogs must be on leash
  • OHV/ATV use prohibited in the campground
  • Maximum length of stay: 14 days

50% discount for single site camping with any of these passes: Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age, or Golden Access. Applies to fee for site occupied by the pass holder.

Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
$30 per annual
Overnight Use:
Single Site: $10 per site

Directions

From Selma, OR, take Highway 199 to the turn for Illinois River Road 4301. Take that road approximately 7 plus miles to the campground.  Parking is up above the campsites and there are trails to the sites.

The restrooms are located above the campground, and require a short hike back up to the parking area.

Potable water is not available at this site.

Surface water should be treated.

Picnic tables are available at this site.

Other Amenities

Garbage disposal is not available. Please pack out what you pack in.
