Open Year-Round, 6am-10pm daily

No Fees are required for this site.

Within developed recreation sites, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, or otherwise under physical restrictive control. 36 CFR 261.16(j)

Directions

From Eugene, OR

Travel west on OR-126 for 30.4 mi. At the Whittaker Creek Recreation Area east of Mapleton between mileposts 26 & 27 turn left (south) onto Siuslaw River Rd (Forest Service Road 4390). Travel 1.6 miles and veer right at the Whittaker Creek sign and cross the bridge over the Siuslaw River. Travel this road for 1.5 miles, then turn left onto Dunn Ridge Road. Continue on Dunn Ridge Road for 7.0 miles to a "T" shaped junction at the end of the pavement. Turn left at the T junction onto Knowles Creek Road and continue 2.8 miles. Veer right onto Forest Service Road #23 and follow for 1.6 miles. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 919 and follow for 2.8 miles and turn right into parking area. Follow signs to the trailhead.

From Reedsport, OR

Follow US-101 N 0.7mi. Turn right (east) onto Lower Smith River Road (Forest Road #48). Continue 15.9 miles and turn left onto North Fork Smith River Road (Forest Road #48A). Travel 10.6 miles and turn right onto Forest Road #23. Continue 9.6 miles turning left onto Forest Road #919. Travel 2.8 miles and turn right into parking area. Follow signs to the trailhead.
