Bear Wallow Creek Campground

This campground offers a pleasant experience among the pines adjacent to State Highway 244.  It features 8 campsties, including 1 accessible site and 2 accessible vault toilets.  There is no potable water or garbage service, so please dispose of your garbage at home. 

Attractions in this area include hunting, bird watching, photo opportunities, and a 1/4-mile-long, accessible interpretive trail detailing the life cycle of steelhead salmon.

Campground fees will be charged through November 15. The campground is not maintained but is still available throughout the winter. Access will be snowmobiles only once the road is inaccessible due to snow. Please contact the North Fork John Day ranger District for more information.

The campground is closed only by snow. It is maintained seasonally from Memorial Day until mid-November.

Single site: $8 per night (extra $5 fee per vhicle exceeding the two-vehicle-per-site allowance). Occupancy is limited to 8 people and 2 vehicles per site.
